Sudden flood washes away passenger bus

A bus carrying 38 passengers was swept away in the rain-filled Binaykhola in Binyi Triveni Rural Municipality-1, Nawalparasi East, on the Narayanghat-Butwal section of the East-West Highway.

Police Inspector Rajan Timilsena of the Area Police Office, Dumkibas, said that the bus (Bhe 1 Kha 4085) going from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj was swept away in the river last night.

Inspector Timilsena said that the bus was swept away by the sudden flood in the river. "The flood washed away the bus on the new diversion. We immediately rescued all the passengers using an excavator," he said. There were 38 passengers, including three infants, on the bus.

Inspector Timilsena said that the bus could not be pulled out of the river due to continuous rain in the area. The amount of goods washed away in the river is not yet confirmed.

Currently, the highway is completely blocked due to muddy roads in the Daunne area after heavy rains since last night.
