India, which has relations with both countries, has evacuated its students to a safe place in Iran to avoid the Israeli attack.
Some students have been evacuated to safe places in Iran with the help of the Indian Embassy in Iran, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement. However, the statement did not mention from which place to which the students were evacuated.
Other possible options for safety are being discussed and any new information will be made public, the statement said.
According to government data from last year, there are about 10,000 Indian citizens in Iran. Similarly, according to data from 2022, there are more than 2,000 Indian students in Iran.
After Israel's first attack on Iran last Friday, Iran has also been retaliating. Attacks from both sides continued until Monday night.
Iran's Health Ministry said at least 224 people have been killed in the Israeli attack. Israeli officials have reported that more than a dozen people have been killed since Tehran launched its retaliatory strikes.
Iran and Israel have both closed air and sea routes. Meanwhile, India has also said it is ready to extend possible assistance to both Iran and Israel.
