163 deported from US in 6 months

The highest number of Nepalis deported from the US are from Dang and Rukum. Out of the 163 Nepalis from 28 districts who have been deported since Donald Trump's second term as US President, three districts - Dang, East Rukum and West Rukum - have the highest number. The number of deportees is also highest in Western Nepal.

According to the details received from the Immigration and Police, 51 people have been deported from Dang, 30 from West Rukum and 13 from East Rukum. Similarly, 9 from Salyan, 7 from Myagdi, 6 each from Parbat, Banke and Rolpa, 5 from Baglung and 4 from Sindhupalchowk have also been deported.

Similarly, the US has also deported 3/3 people from Kathmandu, Jajarkot and Dolakha, 2/2 people from Kaski and Kailali, and 1/1 person from Kanchanpur, Gorkha, Jumla, Jhapa, Doti, Dolpa, Dhankuta, Parsa, Makawanpur, Mustang, Morang, Sindhuli and Sunsari.

Most of those who were deported entered the US through the lower route (illegal route) after paying money to organized gangs. According to officials from the Tribhuvan International Airport Immigration Office and the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police, most of those who were deported reached the US through the lower route through gangs active in various countries, including Nepal.

Since US President Trump began his second term on 20 January 2025, 146 men and 17 women have been deported from the US so far.

The Trump administration had deported 45 people in two batches by chartered aircraft and the rest by regular flights and handed them over to the Tribhuvan International Airport Immigration Office. On 21 Falgun 2081, the US had deported eight people, seven men and one woman, and brought them back to Nepal by chartered aircraft. Three months later, on 24 Jestha, 32 men and 5 women were brought back to Nepal by chartered aircraft and released.
