Gujarat suffer first defeat after four consecutive home wins.

Lucknow Super Giants suffered their first defeat on their home ground by beating Gujarat Titans by 33 runs, their sixth win of the season. Playing at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, Lucknow lost the toss and batted first and scored 235 runs for the loss of just two wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Gujarat Titans could only manage 202 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their entire overs. With this defeat, Gujarat's four-match home winning streak came to an end.

Lucknow's bowling attack was led by William O'Rourke and took three wickets. Avesh Khan and Ayush Badoni took two wickets each, while Akash Singh and Shahbaz Ahmed took one wicket each.

Gujarat innings:

Gujarat started on a positive note. Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill put together a 46-run partnership, but William O'Rourke dismissed Sudarshan for 21 runs off 16 balls. Avesh Khan then dismissed captain Gill, who scored 35 runs. Jos Buttler was also dismissed for just 33 runs off 18 balls.

Sherfan Rutherford came in at number four and tried to handle the innings with Shahrukh Khan. The two together shared a 40-run partnership of 86 runs. Rutherford scored 38 runs before getting out, while Shahrukh added 57 runs, but both could not take their team to victory. Among the rest of the batsmen, Rahul Tewatia scored 2, Arshad Khan scored 1, Kagiso Rabada scored 2 and Sai Kishore scored 1. Rashid Khan remained unbeaten after scoring 4 runs.

Lucknow innings:

Earlier, Lucknow got off to a strong start with a 91-run opening partnership between Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh. Sai Kishore broke this partnership by getting Markram caught by Shahrukh Khan for 36 runs. After this, Marsh partnered with Nicholas Pooran and both added 121 runs in 52 balls. Marsh hit his first IPL century, scoring 117 runs in 64 balls with the help of 10 fours and 8 sixes. Nicholas Pooran remained unbeaten on 56 runs, while Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten on 16 runs. Arshad Khan and Sai Kishore took one wicket each for Gujarat.
