The eSports World Cup Foundation has announced star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo as the global brand ambassador for the 2025 eSports World Cup. The foundation aims to further promote eSports and bridge the gap between traditional sports and eSports through this partnership.
Foundation head Ralph Reichert said Ronaldo is an inspiration to everyone from experienced players to new competitors. “Ronaldo’s excellence is represented by the spirit of the eSports World Cup. It is an honor to be with him to further strengthen the connection between traditional sports and competitive gaming,” he said.
Ronaldo will lead the main campaign of the World Cup, promoting the slogan ‘Rise Above’, which means ‘to move forward beyond all limits’. The foundation said the slogan carries a message of realizing human potential, inspiring courage, hard work and excellence.
“Sports can always change, e-sports is also expanding into a new area. Here, the players’ passion, skill and courage are the same as in traditional sports. I am proud to be an ambassador for this event. I will help inspire future generations,” said Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo is popular around the world — he has 650 million followers on Instagram, 115 million on Twitter and 75 million subscribers on YouTube.
Ronaldo has a long-standing relationship with the e-sports World Cup. He was also present when the event was announced in 2023. He also attended the closing ceremony in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia last summer, adding to the prestige of the event, the foundation said in a statement.
The e-sports World Cup 2025 will bring together the international e-sports community, players, clubs and spectators in one place. The competition will feature 2,000 top players, 200 clubs and 100 countries.
The competition features 25 tournaments, 24 games, and a prize pool of over $70 million.
The E-Sports World Cup is a major annual event that celebrates international competition, skill, courage, and unity.
