Divers in Koshi are still missing.

One of the two divers who went missing after drowning in the Koshi river in Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality-1 of Saptari is yet to be traced.

Sepoy Hardev Rajbanshi of No. 1 Shri Antu Battalion Ilam, Sepoy Suraj Saud of No. 13 Battalion Parsa and Sepoy of No. 2 Chhinnamasta Battalion Headquarters went missing while practicing for the monsoon disaster preparedness program on Thursday.

While their search was on, the body of Armed Police Constable Rajbanshi was recovered on Friday about 3 km south of the site of incident (Koshi Barrage), but the other Armed Police Constable Saud is still missing. SP Gyanmani Paudel of No. 6 Battalion Headquarters Saptari said that the search for Saud is on. According to him, a team of divers and disaster management trained personnel from Dantkali Training School No. 6, Saptari and Disaster Management Training School Kurintar are searching for them.

The two went missing after getting trapped in a whirlpool of water north of barrage gate number 55/56 after a provincial-level disaster preparedness programme was held on the river on Saturday. SP Paudel said the disaster preparedness programme has been suspended following the incident.

Rajbanshi of Jhapa and Saud of Doti had completed diving training in 2080 and 2081 BS.
