The opposition parties have been obstructing the House of Representatives meeting since 13 Jestha, demanding that Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak resign and a high-level investigation committee be formed in the visit visa case.
In the previous meeting, Speaker Devraj Ghimire had requested for cooperation in conducting the meeting as efforts were being made to reach a consensus among the parties. However, the opposition parties had adjourned the meeting after they took a stand that the parliament would not be allowed to function until their demands were met.
Speaker Ghimire has been continuously discussing to remove the obstruction in parliament, while the parties have accelerated mutual discussions and coordination. The ruling party, the Nepali Congress, is holding separate discussions with the opposition parties on removing the obstruction in parliament. Although the Maoist Center has loosened its grip on the issue, the National Independent Party and the Congress have not been able to reach an agreement.
