What is loneliness?

Loneliness is different from living in seclusion or isolation because this kind of loneliness is undesirable which causes pain or misery for the person. It is usually associated with negative emotions which have a bad effect on our health.

Research suggests that loneliness can also be caused by, and can cause, diseases such as heart disease, lung disease, high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, stroke, and metabolic diseases such as diabetes and obesity. Loneliness is "predictive of various psychological problems such as depression, psychological stress and anxiety ... (and) is also associated with overall morbidity and mortality in the adult population."

It is about what makes people happy and satisfied with their lives - the study shows that people who are involved in the community and who have a close relationship with their family, friends or spouse Is, they are more likely to remain healthy and happy even in old age.

The opposite is also true: people who are single or stuck in bad relationships, where there is a lot of quarreling or where they feel they cannot trust their partner or depend on them completely, They experience a decline in mental and physical health.
